Professor Blaine grew up in Pomona at the foot of Mt. Baldy, over which she ran wild as often as possible. Today the mountain still serves as a source of pleasure, wonder, and spiritual solace for her, and she looks forward to sharing this beautiful part of her world with students. When not in nature, Dr. Blaine teaches in the Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies, where she also serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Her research and publications examine gendered representations of death in media, including analysis of corpses in advertising, literature, news, films and television. For better or worse, she sees everything through the lens of mortality.

PEAK: Mt Baldy (Cedar Glen Camp Trail)

DIFFICULTY: 3/5

SCENERY: Amazing ~peak~ views, cute cabins, & (possibly) some running streams

FUN FACT: According to Google: “Locals have affectionately called it Mount Baldy (or sometimes Old Baldy) because of its barren treeless summit.” We’ll have to ask Professor Blaine about this.
