Yosemite National Park w/ Terry Church {Pharmacy}

Signups typically happen through these buttons, but signups for this trip will happen in person at the involvement fair on Aug 31 Wednesday 11AM-2PM.

Start your school year off right with an epic weekend trip to Yosemite National Park, a land of towering granite monoliths, meadows, giant Sequoias, and waterfalls!! We’ll trek to the top of Vernal and Nevada Falls, meander through Cook’s Meadow, and marvel at the views of El Capitan and Half Dome as we unwind around the campfire. Get hyped for some of the most insane views that California has to offer in this two-night camping adventure!

No previous camping experience/equipment necessary! We’ll happily supplement whatever gear you may not have.

PACKING LIST:

  • Sleeping bag/pad if you have one

  • Sturdy hiking shoes

  • Flashlight/headlamp

  • Mess kit (plate/bowl/utensils)

  • Toothbrush and general life items

  • 2-3L of H2O - hydrate or diedrate!

  • Sunscreen/sunglasses/hat

  • WAIVERS

WE WILL PROVIDE:

  • Tents

  • Whatever gear you don’t have!

  • Food (but feel free to bring your own snacks! We’ll have some, but we understand that everybody has that ~ one kind of bar ~ they can’t live without.)



Dr. Terry Church is an Assistant Professor in Regulatory and Quality Sciences at the USC School of Pharmacy. He specializes in patterns of addiction, the history and geography of drugs, and the regulation of controlled substances. He has given a presentation on “The Science Behind the Hangover” and teaches a course called “Buzzed: Modern Substances of Abuse and Addiction.” Dr. Church is a cyclist in his spare time, and he has completed his second AIDS LifeCycle bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles!


PEAK: VERNAL AND NEVADA FALLS

DIFFICULTY: 3/5

SCENERY: 6 mile loop trail along the Merced River offering close-up views of two large waterfalls.

FUN FACT: 600+ granite steps form the misty ascent up to Vernal Falls, and the spray from the waterfall forms a rainbow!
