It’s TIME… for the F-I-F-T-H semesterly installation of the Point Dume climbing trip! Join psychology professor Bryan Shilowich and a ~surprise guest~ as we climb the cliff and enjoy a Sunday at the beach. Possible activities (besides killing it on the rocks) include watching Bryan juggle, playing Spikeball, body surfing, throwing frisbees, finding sick shells, and cheering each other on.
No climbing experience is necessary to go on this trip! Point Dume is a well-known spot that’s perfect for beginners. We’ll set up two routes on either side of the cliff so you’ll get plenty of time to vibe and learn the ropes.

Bryan received his Ph.D. from USC in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and now teaches in the Psychology department. Before becoming a Trojan, Bryan earned his B.A. in Economics at Tufts and a Masters in Neuroscience at Brandeis University. Outside of the cognitive sciences, he loves acting, painting, juggling, making music, woodworking, and photography. He also was on twelve episodes of SNL as a kid!
PEAK: Point Dume
DIFFICULTY: 2.5/5
SCENERY: Volcanic rock cliffs offering panoramic views of Malibu… what else can you ask for? The tide pools are home to a buncha marine life, and on past trips, we’ve spotted dolphins and harbor seals!
FUN FACT: Point Dume is the southern-most limit for the giant sea dahlia, dudleya, false heather, and the California spineflower.
