Come along on this hike in Pasadena with animation professor Katie Smith! Lower Arroyo Seco is a 3-mile trail through forests and under bridges.

PROFESSOR: Katie Smith

DEPARTMENT: Animation and Digital Arts

Katie Smith is an adjunct professor in the Animation department teaching storyboarding and animation production. Aside from teaching, Katie is a story artist and filmmaker with experience boarding for feature films, short films, mini-series, and commercial work. Katie received her Master’s degree here from USC, where she studied animation and live-action filmmaking. Prior to her adventures in grad school and beyond, she lived in New York City for close to seven years while working at Blue Sky Studios as a Production Assistant and later as a Digital Artist.  Currently, she’s working at Nickelodeon in their feature film division, where previous clients and companies include WildBrain for Apple TV+, Hasbro’s feature film division, Passion Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, Blue Sky Studios, and DreamWorks Feature Animation. When she’s not drawing, writing, and teaching, Katie enjoys stomping around outside, traveling, reading, making (and enjoying) giant cheese plates, and surfing.
