PROFESSOR: EMMA SINGER

DEPARTMENT:

Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering

Professor Singer is a Senior Lecturer of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from USC and an undergraduate degree from CU Boulder. Her focus is on robotic control systems; she worked in the Autonomous Microrobotic Systems Laboratory (ASML) for five years, which included designing and building robotic bee prototypes. She currently teaches the Mechoptronics course (AME 341) and is the faculty advisor for the USC Solar Car competition team.

PROFESSOR: LESSA GRUNENFELDER

DEPARTMENT: Chemical Engineering and Materials Science

Professor Grunenfelder teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses on material properties, processing, selection, and design. She holds a B.S. in astronautical engineering and a MS and PhD in materials science, all from USC! She’s interested in research involving efficient manufacturing of high performance composites, and she is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineers (SAMPE).

Fun Fact: Both Alex and Malina are women in engineering! Alex is president of USC EERI (Earthquake Engineering Research institute) and Malina is an Officer Council for SWE Community Outreach.
