Join Peaks overnight icon Karin Huebner for a trip to the Channel Islands! We'll be heading to Santa Cruz Island (about 20 miles offshore in the Santa Barbara Channel). Although close to the mainland, the island is a different world with beautiful views, endemic species, isolated beaches, rugged mountains, and night skies full of stars. We'll be taking many moderate day hikes, with the longest one being about eight miles.

Look up the santa cruz island fox- they're ridiculously cute 4lb foxes that only live on the island we're visiting!

PROFESSOR: KARIN HUEBNER
DEPARTMENT: History, but more importantly...the Harman Polymathic Academy!!
Karin Huebner is the Academic Director of the Sidney Harman Academy for Polymathic Studies, which focuses on bringing together people of all disciplines for conversation and action. She also has a Ph.D. in history and specializes in Gender and Sexuality, Native American Studies, and the North American West. Before her career in academia, Dr. Huebner was a professional tennis player, competing on the Women's World Tennis Tour and in the US Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. She now moonlights as a Peaks legend (this will be her 5th overnight with Peaks since her first trip last year!).
