Join us for an ~~unconventional~~ Saturday morning at the Watts Towers in urban Los Angeles! While not quite a hike, this quick trip is well worth your time. The art installation was built BY HAND!!! over the course of 30 years by Simon Rodia, and will blow your mind! We’ll check out these sculptures, learn about the history of Watts + South LA, and then enjoy coffee and snacks at a nearby cafe.

Michael Petitti is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in Thematic Option. He publishes on the American cinema, and he teaches courses on film, literature, food, Los Angeles, and writing. When he’s not pretending to be a hiker, he’s usually eating a burrito and/or watching a movie.
