Join Peaks and Professors as we hike the Dunsmore Canyon and Le Mesanger Loop trails in the Deukmejian Wilderness Park! This hike will offer scenic views of the SoCal chaparral landscape with great views of the L.A. Basin. If you’re looking to get some exercise, sunlight, and beautiful views, this trip is for you!
PACKING LIST:
Good shoes for hiking (the trail may get rocky)
Hat/Sunglasses (there is very little shade!)
Water (1-2L is ideal)

PROFESSOR: Ashley Uyeshiro Simon
DEPARTMENT: Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy
Dr. Ashley Uyeshiro Simon is one of the most well-respected faculty in USC’s Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. She currently teaches classes such as OT 101 Caring For Yourself and OT 100 THRIVE: Foundations for Wellbeing, a course she founded. Ashley is passionate about self-care and promoting well-being and mental health among undergraduates. She can’t wait to hike with Peaks again!
PEAK: Dunsmore Canyon and Le Mesanger Loop Trail
DIFFICULTY: 2.5/5
SCENERY: This roughly 3 mile loop trail is tucked away in the Deukmejian Wilderness Park in Glendale. During this time of year, the trail is a perfect place to see wildflowers and incredible views of the entire L.A. basin! Be warned, there is very little shade on the trail, so please bring proper sun protection!
FUN FACT: The Deukmejian Wilderness Park is a very popular place for bird watching, so keep your eyes peeled for some beautiful birdies!
