Mt. Islip w/ Amanda Hobmeier {Writing}

  • Little Jimmy Rd Azusa, CA, 91702 United States (map)

Join us for a 7 mile hike in the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains! We’ll begin easily enough at the Islip Saddle and make our way up the mountain between trees and campsites. Along the way, we will be treated to views of other peaks like Mt. Waterman, Mt. Baldy, and Mt. Josephine. However, the real view waits at the summit, where we will be able to observe the whole LA basin and nearby mountains as we stand on the grounds of an old fire lookout. We’ll stop at the top to enjoy this scenery and then return back the way we came to complete this hike.

Professor: Amanda Hobmeier

DEPARTMENT: Writing

RATE MY PROFESSOR: "I really liked her as a person and she was really funny"

As a professor in the writing program at USC, Professor Hobemeier works with freshmen in the WRIT 150 class to strengthen their writing skills as they transition into college, and with older students in 340 to prepare them to leave USC and write in a professional context. Beyond this, she is fluent in French and has travelled all over the world to places like the Philippines. As intelligent as she is well-spoken, Professor Hobmeier will no doubt be sharing life experiences and wisdom with us on the trail
