Parker Mesa via Los Liones w/ James Diewald {Architecture}

TRIP DESCRIPTION:

Join School of Architecture professor James Diewald on a 7-mile coastal hike to the Parker Mesa overlook via the Los Liones Trail! We’ll begin with a steep incline through a winding, narrow canyon until we enter a wider, sunny fire road, finishing at the Mesa lookout. This lush out-and-back trail features a variety of terrains and spectacular views of the Santa Monica Bay.

James Diewald is an architectural designer and educator based in Los Angeles. In addition to teaching undergraduate design studios at USC, he is a project designer at LA architecture firm SOM. On our hike, ask him about sustainable co-housing or his passion for rock climbing!

PEAK: PARKER MESA VIA LOS LIONES

DIFFICULTY: 3/5, a 7.3 mile hike with 1292 ft elevation gain

SCENERY: Half lush, narrow, rocky canyon, and half sunny, open, dirt road!

FUN FACT: On a clear day at the overlook you can catch some views as far as the San Bernardino Mountains.
