River crossings! Rock scrambling! Come along for a good ole fashioned adventure down 9.5 miles of the San Gabriel River! This hike will take us to the Bridge to Nowhere, a mysterious bridge that was abandoned after a flood in the 1930’s. Guaranteed good vibes and good times with the beloved Professor Bryant!

PACKING LIST:

  • Day pack

  • At least 3L of H2O

  • Lunch/snackies

  • Sturdy shoes

  • Sunscreen/sunglasses/hat

  • WAIVERS

NOTE: Be prepared to get wet on this hike! The trail criss-crosses the San Gabriel River several times, and the water can be up to knee-deep.

Dr. Jasmine Bryant is a professor in the Chemistry Department at USC. Deeply invested in student learning and success in general and organic chemistry, she is the recipient of several awards such as “Most Engaging Lecturer” and “Outstanding Faculty Member!” Dr. Bryant received her PhD in inorganic chemistry from the University of Washington in 2002, and her graduate work centered around the mechanisms of hydrogen-atom abstraction via transition metal complexes. Don’t know what that means? Me neither! Come along to find out!
