Malibu Springs w/ Darren Ruddell {Spatial Sciences}

Join our trip with Darren Ruddell of the Spatial Sciences Institute on a hike in the Santa Monica Mountains! We will be moseying to Malibu Springs, a moderate trail near Leo Carrillo State Park. The scenic trail is a 7-mile round trip hike with 1,425 feet of elevation gain and has great overlook of the Pacific Ocean. Come prepared to ask Prof. Ruddell about his research on climate change, GIS and his new PDP program in Global Security!

Darren Ruddell is Assistant Professor and Director of Undergraduate of Studies for the Spatial Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California.  Dr. Ruddell teaches Geographic Information Science (GIS) courses in the GeoDesign major as well as the advanced online GIST graduate program.  Ruddell earned his Ph.D. in 2009 from the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, and his research efforts utilize geospatial technologies to investigate issues of urban sustainability.
