ROCK CLIMBING New Jack City w/ Nicolas Moure {Physics}

  • New Jack City Lucerne Valley CA, 92356 United States (map)

Signups will go live Sunday after wave release. Before that , the buttons above will redirect you to the homepage .

Join us for 24 whole hours of climbing! Ok, maybe we won’t be climbing for all 24 hours, but we definitely will be having fun. You can be part of history by being on the first overnight climbing trip that Peaks and Professors has had, not to mention you’ll get to meet Professor Nicolas Moure from the Physics department. Who knows, you might even calculate the final velocity of a rock that falls from the heights you’ll be reaching on the trip.

Keep in mind that this trip won’t have the traditional hike that makes Peaks so special, and that it’s mostly tailored towards those with prior climbing/ belaying experience since it includes moderate sport routes. If you don’t have climbing gear we’ll also have to charge you for the rentals individually, so definitely keep that in mind too as you plan which Peaks trip to sign up for!

PROFESSOR: Nicolas Moure

DEPARTMENT: Physics

RATE MY PROFESSOR: “Moure is a great physics professor and he cares about his students doing well. His office hours were scheduled for 2 hours, but sometimes he'd stay an extra hour to make sure everyone understands the topics.”

PEAK: New Jack City

DIFFICULTY: 5.6-5.13

SCENERY: The rock is an unusual form of metamorphic rock of volcanic origin, offering often tricky and thought-provoking sequences and moves on huecos, pockets, edges, jugs, underclings, and crimps.

FUN FACT: "New Jack City" is the nickname that rock climbers gave this area, however the historic name for the canyon is “Traer Agua” which means “bring water’. Good advice to follow.
