Known as the “enchanted forest” due to the plentiful trees and greenery, First Water is a 3.4-mile out-and-back trail in Sierra Madre with picturesque scenery! Join us as we learn about Professor Miki Turner’s experience in photojournalism, sports and arts & culture!

An award-winning journalist, Miki Turner utilizes her experience in multiple disciplines to teach courses in photojournalism, sports commentary, digital storytelling and sports production. She has worked at ESPN, the NFL Network, MSNBC, AOL, BET and several newspapers, and is also the author of two books. When she is not capturing pictures or leading the next generation of journalists, Turner is advocating on behalf of underrepresented groups through various diversity and inclusion efforts.

SCENERY: Plenty of greenery and shade will be found on this trail, and we’ll even encounter some streams!

FUN FACT: Some bending trees along the trail make for a mini obstacle course!
