Take a break from midterms and join on us on a nice 7.6 mile hike through Henninger Flats via Eaton Canyon with Prof. Velmet! There is a 40 feet waterfall where we will stop by for a quick lunch. While the waterfall may not actually be running, this is still a great opportunity to decompress in the outdoors.

PROFESSOR: Aro Velmet

DEPARTMENT: History

Professor Velmet is a historian of modern Europe, focusing on the history of science, gender and sexuality, and empires. He teaches a class called “Histories of the Apocalypse,” examining apocalyptic fears spanning from the End Times as written in The Bible to nuclear fears during the Cold War to modern-day pandemics.

With his interest in public outreach, Prof. Velmet is an editor of the Estonian cultural monthly Vikerkaar magazine. He also served as one of the curators for a permanent exhibition in the Estonian Museum of Freedom.
