Backbone Trail w/ Mark Marino {Writing}

IMPORTANT UPDATE: STARTING 11/5/2023 WE WILL BE REVERTING TO FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Sign ups will open 9PM on Sundays of Wave release (instead of being open 9PM-12AM)

Join us for an trip to Malibu Creek State Park to hike the Backbone Trail:) This is a 7.7-mile hiking loop with 2,017 feet of elevation gain. We are in for a little bit of a challenge, but it will be worth of it get outside and for the views! We will meet and leave EARLY in the AM to be able to get to the trail and meet our professor by 8. The hike is estimated to take 4.5-5 hours. Afterwards, we should get back to USC by mid-afternoon!

PACKING LIST:

  • LOTS of H2O

  • Appropriate clothing (depending on weather)

  • Lunch (RECOMMENDED), snacks (optional)

  • HIKING or TENNIS shoes

  • Waivers

  • Your lovely selves

Meet Mark Marino, although he prefers to be called “Coach” by students. Coach is a writer. In writing, you have fantasy, sci-fi, romance, mystery, horror, and all these other niche genres. Want to take a stab at Coach’s niche? Well, it's electronic and digital literature, meaning he writes fiction about technology! Coach is extremely passionate about Artificial Intelligence, as seen by his past works. On his free time, he spends time with his dog and kids, whom he writes interactive stories and children’s books with.
