Stargazing in Cleveland National Forest w/ Kris Pardo {Physics and Astronomy}

IMPORTANT UPDATE: STARTING 11/5/2023 WE WILL BE REVERTING TO FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Sign ups will open 9PM on Sundays of Wave release (instead of being open 9PM-12AM)

Join us for a trip to Cleveland National Forest, where we will hike and then stargaze at night.

We will start the day by hiking to Chiquito Falls before setting up the telescope deeper in the forest. After dinner, we will stargaze while getting an intro to star constellations by one of our trip leads and have interesting conversations with Professor Pardo! We should be back to campus around 10pm.

NOTE: THERE WILL BE A STREAM CROSSING. EXPECT TO GET WET FEET.

NOTE: Professor Pardo will bring his dog Sienna, a very cute Australian Shepherd:

PACKING LIST:

  • LOTS of H2O (around 2-3L, 68-100oz per person)

  • Comfortable shoes / Hiking shoes (recommended)

  • Warm outerwear (it’ll get chilly at night)

  • Hat + SPF

  • Mess kit: tupperware and utensils to use to eat

  • Flashlight

  • Snacks

  • Waivers

  • Food (Lunch + Dinner)
