Come join us on a calm Sunday afternoon hike, with a professor I only met last week! There may or may not be a waterfall, but there will definitely be some beautiful views of this shady creek-side trail. There will also be plenty of interesting conversations about the future of our food industry!

PROFESSOR: Scott Applebaum
DEPARTMENT: Environmental Studies
RATE MY PROFESSOR: "extremely compassionate and engaging" - RMP
Scott Applebaum joined the Environmental Studies Program in 2019 after nearly 10 years as a
research scientist with USC Biological Sciences. He teaches courses spanning soil/water
sustainability, aquaculture (cultivated production of aquatic species), and urban ecology. His
recent research addresses the physiology, ecological and evolutionary processes in marine
organisms. Prof. Applebaum enjoys being on the mountain trails and in coastal waters (running,
hiking, fishing, kayaking, etc.) as much as possible!
PEAK: Santa Ynez Canyon Waterfall Trail

SCENERY: H2O, greens, rocks, calming stream sounds. So dreamy you'll forget about the heat!
Fun Fact: This waterfall is apparently 18ft tall! Which is roughly 50 apples tall!
