Escondido Falls w/ Carolina Castillo Larrea

Ever thought Peaks hikes just weren't fun enough in English?? Try and remember some of the Spanish you took in high school by spending your Sunday with Profesora Carolina Castillo Larrea! We'll be exploring this beautiful trail nestled in Malibu on a 3.7 mile path with minimal elevation gains all while layin' down some cultural knowledge with a truly authentic Spaniard!

PEAK: Escondido Falls

DIFFICULTY: 2/5

SCENERY: On the Malibu coast, this park takes us into a canyon where we'll (hopefully) get to see a waterfall or even two!

FUN FACT: "escondido" means "hidden" in Spanish--we may have to do some rock scrambling to find these hidden waterfalls!

Carolina Castillo Larrea grew up in Córdoba, Spain and got her PhD in Spanish Language and Literature at Boston University in 2014. Last year, a Trip Lead convinced her to come on a trip when she was 8 months pregnant and now she's ready to conquer something a bit more challenging! Profesora Castillo has an immense passion for her students and her subject and is particularly interested in teaching methodology and medieval and Renaissance literature. We'll be sure to talk about her experiences in the United States and ask her to recite her favorite passage from Don Quixote!
